Environment Thumbs

Below are some environmental thumbnails. If all goes well, I should have two finished paintings: one macro shot of the city, and one shot from within the city. The first three pages are done with Prismacolor on vellum. Each thumbnail took about 15-20 minutes. The last page was done in Photoshop and was influenced by the 3 pages above it. It also includes a short description of the shot. Hopefully one of the two will become a final painting.

Object Study

I needed something to draw this morning so I found my Nintendo controller laying around and thought it would make for an easy sketch.

It turns out that this tacky, plastic, handheld flowform was actually very difficult to draw in perspective. But thats a good thing. I wanted to draw something loose and organic. I also decided to use Autodesk Sketchbook instead of Photoshop.

I also realize that I managed to overlook the A and B buttons in the orthographic drawing. Fix it? Too much effort

Ive decided to post a few pages of stuff from the entertainment design class i'm taking this summer. Not all of my process work is in order so these are just pages I thought might be interesting enough for tonight.

Update

I struggled with this painting. Really trying to nail light, shadow, and reflected light. The original sketch was a collaboration piece between me and my good friend Cody

Update

Trying out different styles of rendering. Im hoping to find a sketching process that works well for me

Recents

Here are a few paintings i've completed in the past week or so. The goal of these studies is to better understand light and shadow as well as improve my sketching and rendering speed and technique.

The sketch below is the first of a series in which a random word (real or not) is converted into an imaginary animal (hopefully with a short description). It was a project that was first thought up a few months ago with my friend Charlie.

Motivation

Hi. Starting this blog to keep motivated and document my progress. I'll hopefully post on here at least once a day with new drawings and sketches. If I slack off, please yell at me.
